Introducing...

CHASE CLARK GOLDIE! Thanks to everyone for your well-wishes. Sorry to keep you in suspense on his name. My first choice was Thatcher, Brad's was Chase, but my second choice was Chase whereas Thatcher was number 10 on Brad's list, so there you have it...if that makes any sense! We don't have very many great pictures yet, but luckily my incredibly talented sister-in-law Katie is here, so I'll post some more when she takes them.

Everything has gone so well, especially compared to my experience with Nick. I started having contractions about 11:00pm on Monday night. We went to the hospital about 2:00am, and Chase was born at 7:54am. I only had to push for 10 minutes, and there were no placenta complications like there were with Nick. My only complaint is that I wasn't able to get the epidural until I was dialated to a 9, so I was having some painful contractions there the last couple hours, and I can't tell you just how much I LOVE THE EPIDURAL!! I wanted to kiss the anesthesiologist by the time he got there! :)

Chase, although only 55 hours old, is such a good baby! He has a very sweet and gentle spirit about him and is very calm. Nick is adjusting well. He's very possesive of his brother and keeps looking at him and saying "he's cute!" over and over again. I feel so blessed to have these two special spirits entrusted to me! More to come --

No baby yet...

I know this picture is blurry, but I still thought it was cute enough to post. Nick loves to go get his haircut, and he also loves to pretend to give and receive haircuts at home. He uses his blankie as the cape and any random kitchen utensil he can reach as the scissors. Here he is having his "hair cut" by Mara.

5 days until D-DAY, and still nothing is happening. I really thought he would be born by now, but what do I know? Just wishful thinking, I guess. I'm trying not to think about it and having my mom and Mara here has helped me stay distracted. Because Pennsylvania has the highest number of mal-practice suits is the USA, apparently they are very anti-induction here. They'll let me go to 41 weeks before it's a possibility, despite the fact that I really am certain that this kid is bigger than Nick was, and he was 8.2 at 39 weeks. We'll keep everyone posted!

Nick loves Grandma and Grandpa Goldie

I figured since I have so many people checking my blog everyday to see if our baby has come yet that I better keep posting things so you all don't get bored (and yes, I will make Brad post something ASAP after baby Thatcher Chase Liam Collin Reed Clark Goldie is born). Anyway, I thought I would start with some of our holiday pictures since we have so many and since I haven't attempted a slide show yet.

Brad's parents came to spend the weekend before Christmas with us, and boy did we have a blast! These are two of the most generous people I've ever met in my life and they know how to spoil us -- with love and with gifts! Nick is going through a major dinosaur phase right now (he sleeps with one every night) and Grandma and Grandpa brought him one that moves and roars and everything! We play with it multiple times a day, along with all the other fun things they brought. Their gifts to me included the last piece of my Willow Tree Nativity set that I've been wanting (they give me a piece every year) and a very nice flat iron for my birthday that I've been coveting for over a year that has saved me from shaving my head the past six days (see the below post if you're wondering why I would ever be tempted to shave my head). The gifts were never ending and so was the fun. We watched movies, played games, ate way too much, and loved every minute! We're excited to see you again!

A bad haircut...who would have thought?

So, this picture has nothing to do with this post. I just think my son is cute. A couple of weeks ago, he cleaned out this cupboard, climbed in, and shut the door. This is the cute face we got to see over and over again when we asked "where's Nick?" I love it.

Many of you will be happy to know that I am no longer counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until I go into labor. This is partly because of a comment that my wise brother, Daniel, made to me (something to the effect of "that's a stupid thing to worry about when you have absolutely NO CONTROL over it," but in much nicer terms), and mostly because of the awful, and I mean AWFUL, haircut that I got on Thursday. Despite spending Thursday and Friday trying not to burst into tears whenever I thought about it, avoiding mirrors at all costs, and sporting my wonderful husbands Colorado Rockies hat for most of the day today, I have come to the realization that this disastrous haircut is actually a good thing. For one thing, it's a distraction. For another, I actually realize that it's a really vain and trivial thing to be so upset about, and I remind myself of this constantly, because who wants to be vain and trivial? So while you will not be seeing any pictures of me on this blog until my hair grows at least three inches, I just wanted to send it out there that until my bundle of joy comes, I will be enjoying being waited on hand and foot by my husband, sister, and mom, spending my last one-on-one moments (for awhile anyway) with my adorable two-year-old, and being grateful for all that I have and everyone I love. And chances are, if you're reading this blog, that that includes you.

How many days left????

Certain that I'm going to go into labor at any SECOND, I've been trying to take more pictures of my baby belly. Here I am today, at 38 weeks, and hopefully this is the last picture of my swollen self I will have to have taken!

Thanks to everyone for your insight on our struggle with names. No, a decision has not been made. I like Thatcher, Brad likes Chase. I should have put that on here before so my friends could have voted in my favor (thanks Jen, Ty, and Amy!). :) Maybe we'll get lucky and we'll "just know" when we see our 11 lb pound baby, who apparently is never coming out! :) Happy January 9th, everyone!

Baby Name Poll

Hello all --

Brad and I are having the hardest time deciding on a name for this kid of ours! The names I LOVE are a little too "out there" for Brad. And the names he loves are a little too common for me. So here is a list of the middle ground names we're considering:

Chase
Thatcher
Weston
Liam
Reed
Miles
Anderson
Collin
Max

The middle name will be Clark. PLEASE take a second and tell me which you like best. We need some objective viewpoints! Oh, and you don't have to have a gmail account or a blog to comment.
